The Next Zelda Could be Multi-Player

A few weeks ago during E3 IGN interviewed Eiji Aonuma  . During this interview Aonuma  mentioned he would  like to experiment  with making Zelda a multiplayer game. The handheld entries Triforce Heroes and Four swords both had multiplayer but neither are considered main line entries.

“I would like to take what I learned from Breath of the Wild and see if we can somehow fuse those learning points into another multiplayer Zelda. For example, with Tri Force Heroes, which followed a similar format of Four Swords, there was a multiplayer involved in that game.”- Said Aonuma

A thing that does not change with time is a memory of younger days…-Zelda (Sheik)

Now this is not by any means a confirmation of multiplayer, but it is a good implication.  I think it is important to note that Breath of the wild is fully a single player experience. Having a main entry be multiplayer would be a first for the franchise.

Many fans have voiced their distaste in the game including multiplayer. Being that this would be the first time the franchise would include this feature the reaction is expected. I believe it would be a wise way to mix up the game, though I’d personally have it as optional rather than forced.  If possible capturing the feel of the N64 titles while giving the ability to play together would be wonderful.
