It’s that lovey time of year, there’s lights everywhere, people wearing mask, we’re all forced to stay home and cant go anywhere..But hey! We can watch some Christmas anime!
So we at Sidearc as usual have made a list of some great anime to watch in this Christmas season. Some old, some new and all down there.
Movies-
Tenchi: Daughter of Darkness
Going classic here, this movie while a bit sad does have some fun action and the usual hi-jinks of the Tenchi crew. The movie does feature tons of Christmas stuff in it and is just plain fun.
Though this one is better watched after one of the Tenchi Series. While the movie was hard to find for a decent while, the recent movie collections have made it very easy to find. Or you can watch it on Funimations streaming service.
Tokyo GodFathers
This one is the best, not only is this a utterly fantastic movie but it is a truly wonderful and moving Christmas movie! I truly cannot recommend this movie enough, if you have the means to watch it you really should get on that!
Also it is made by the legend Satoshi Kon himself, if that wasn’t reason enough.
Special mention, cause I havent seen it.
Love Hina Christmas Movie.
I think the name tells you enough about it. I haven’t seen it though.
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Got to watch a lot of stuff to get to it, but hey it’s supposed to be Amazing!
Episodes-
Big 0
Episode 11 Season 1 Daemonseed
This episode is surprisingly good, it is so interesting it has honestly got me to want to watch the entire series. Something I plan on doing after the Holiday Season.
The episode is one its better to just go in blank,if you like batman like characters this is perfect.
School Rumble
Episode 18 The Sweet Trap of Work, The Sweet Trap of the Classroom, The Sweet Trap of Celebrity
19 Here, There and Everywhere, Christmas! A Dash for Christmas! A Shattered Christmas!
School Rumble is hilarious, these are of course no exception. While they do have a lot of story they are still able to be watched alone and are hilarious.
Ah! My Goddess
Episode 2 Ah! The Beleaguered Queen of Vengeance
Episode 3 Ah! I Offer These Feelings on Christmas Eve!
Both these episodes tie together (but not to much to watch them singly ) And involve the trials and tribulations of Keniichi and Belldandy’s holiday season as they attempt to find the perfect gift and deal with a jealous “rival”. All and all its all really sweet and feel good making it a very pleasant option for the holidays.
Lupin The Third
Episode 64 Christmas at Tiffany’s
Classic Lupin, insane feat of crazy thievery and absurd humor. Always good for a late night watch.
Episode 12 The Sleight Before Christmas
More Classic Lupin, this one with some wine and of course more stealing. As usual Lupins Christmas is an odd but fun one to watch.
Read or Die The TV Series
Episode 10 A Christmas Carol
A bit more serious than some of the others on the list this episode tells about how Michelle and Maggie found Anita starving in a abandoned church at Christmas and took her in. Its kind of a mix of feel good and sad at the same time.
Torodora
The entire end of the series from like Episode 16 or something like that, its super festive but also super story involved so it isnt the best for just dropping in. But if you got the time to marathon its a good one.
Gintama
Episode 37 People Who Say That Santa Doesn’t Really Exist Actually Want to Believe in Him
It’s gintama, and a Christmas episode. It is friggen weird. Check it out if you are in the mood for something very very different than usual.I guarantee you will remember it from now on.
Chrono Crusade
Ep. 12– Holy Night
I dont know too much about the show as Ive only watched a handful of episodes . But this is a nice little Christmas Episode full of all that classic anime feeling.
Pokemon
The following are episodes featuring Christmas-Via Bulbapedia:
It is pokemon and Christmas, do you really need more of an explanation than that?
Hetalia Axis Powers
Episode 31
A look at Christmas from around the world, with a large dose of hilarious and snarky humor and over the top accents.
Man Christmas is odd around the world.
Also its like 5 minutes long.
Doctor Stone
Episode 21
Admittedly not huge on our modern Christmas Imagery and iconic bits due to the circumstances of the show. But the shows got the good heartwarming feeling going strong.
Vandread
Episode 10
There is Christmas Trees in the dang opening. Like holy crap the first 30 seconds bombards you with Christmas at every angle. The episodes is about finding the meaning of Christmas.
Christmas in Space and in its 90s anime glory. I barely remember the show at all but the Christmas episode is a fun little watch for the holidays.
Azumanga Daioh
Episode 17
Azumanga Daioh is a strange strange show.
And this, this is its Christmas Episode.
