Metal Gear  is a series of action-adventure stealth video games, created by Hideo Kojima and developed and published by Konami. The first game, Metal Gear, was released in 1987 for theMSX2.

Metal Gear is largely attributed with the creation of the Stealth genre and is one of the few stealth titles that continue to bring games out through the modern generations.

And now with Metal Gear Solid V coming upon us, it is a good time to look back-

Metal Gear 1&2

These games were pretty simple, not to much story from the first. With the second came huge improvements, but from here greatness was born.

The games were basic, had a small amount of story and all the characters looked like actors, while important they were pretty odd with memorable enemies such as Dirty Duck. All in all, these games would lead to one of the most memorable and influential series in the world.

Then came Metal Gear Solid.

Metal Gear Solid is the place where the series essentially rebooted into what it has become today, this is the true beginning to the Metal Gear Saga, it is also when the game burst into the 3D gaming scene.

Metal Gear Solid 2

Metal gear Solid 2 was of course the sequel to the glorious Metal Gear Solid, while it is largely considered the Black Sheep of the main series it is still regarded as one of the best games you can run across. With its crazy twist and fun gameplay it is still a game worth every second you put into it.

You can watch its original E3 trailer below-

Metal Gear Solid 3

The first game in the series to put Big Boss as the lead, Metal Gear Solid 3 is considered by many to be the best game of all time, and with good reason. This game packs more emotion and intrigue in it than most series do in their entirety.

Watch the dang trailer.

Metal Gear Solid 4

The Metal Gear that brought the series into the PlayStation 3 generation, also the final exclusive title of the series. This game blended cutscense with gameplay in a way that still blows my mind, mix that with the beautifully fine tuned gameplay and the simply amazing way it ties the entire series up and you get what is easily one of the best gaming experiences you will ever get in your hands.

Now, if all your memories haven’t been stirred yet you should simply watch this last thing.
